Conclusion
- As a result of handing out a questionnaire I discovered many different results. These results will help me to decide certain things for my magazine. In question 1 i found out that 10 out of the 20 people i asked preferred rock music magazines, with Hip-Hop magazines close behind at 7 our of 20 and Classical and Folk with a small popularity of 2. This helps me to decide that my choice of Rock magazine will be very popular.
- In question 2 the words that people associated with Rock music came from a wide variety, the most popular of them being these 5; Bands, Black, Loud, Heavy and Stereotype. Out of these 5 words I will pick one that I like most and try to make a positioning statement including the word.
- In question 3 the respondents were asked to write their Favourite Rock solo artist (or band was accepted if they did not have a favourite solo artist. These answers showed that the most popular result was Avril Lavigne. This has helped me to decide that I will definitely be doing a double page spread about Avril as I know it will be very successful.
- In question 4 I listed a few names i would like my magazine to be called in hope to find a most popular choice. As a result of this i found that 'Vex' was preferred the most with a large 9 out of 20, and the other 4 names having only 2-4 choices.
- In question 5 it was an age question were i listed 3 options, 11-15, 16-25 or 25 + above. The age of most of the people i asked were between the age of 16-25. This shows that my magazine shouldn't be really childish as it should target young adults as they are the ones who mostly care and buy magazines.
- In question 6 it was a question to help me decide what shot to take for my front cover image. There was two choices one being 'medium shot in a studio' and the other being 'Long shot in a specific destination'. The most popular choice was a Medium shot in a studio, this means that people would be more attracted to my magazine if the front cover image was a medium shot of a person in a plain straightforward background. This means that my front cover image will be just that.
- In question 7 it was to help me choose my colour scheme, the choices being; 'Red,Black&White', 'Black,Grey&Green' and 'Black,Grey&White'. RB&W and BG&G were joint popular with 8 out of 20 on each colour scheme. so this means that I have an option of which colour scheme to choose.
- In question 8 this was a question about what font people think would look nicest and more appealing, the choices were 'Old and Classic', 'Italic and Bold' or 'Plain and Clear'. The most favoured was Italic and bold. This shows me that my font should be bold and sometimes italic so that it looks nice to the eye of my readers.
- In question 9 It was a question about price and what would be an amount they are willing to pay for a magazine. The choices were £2.00, £2.50 or £3.00. The price that most would be willing to pay was £2.50. My rough guess of a price for my magazine was around £2.50-£3.00. So this has helped me that my magazine needs to be slightly cheaper than three pound for people to still want to buy it.
- In question 10 I asked what the readers would rather read about, with an option of three possible answers from 'Gig reviews', 'Cd reviews' Or 'Random interviews' Gig reviews came out as most wanted with 11 out of 20 wanting to read about these.
- In question 11 this is about the tone of the magazine. Research showed that people would like the magazine to be Laidback yet formal however they would also like it to be 'Gossip' therefore my magazine will try to be a mixture of the two to fulfill both wants.
- In question 12 I asked how often people would buy a magazine, the most popular answer was monthly and this means that i will publish my magazine monthly so that 3 a month would not go to waste and not get bought.
